A Little White Lie

Just like 1 million other people out there, my New Year's Resolution is to lose weight. Instead of going to rejoin the gym after the new year, I decided that I would go today so that I could get a head start next week to my weight loss 2009 goal. So I headed out to the cheapest gym in town with Sarah who was also going to rejoin the gym. I haven't been a member of the gym for quite a while (keep this in mind for later in my story).

We went in the gym and we asked the dude at the desk to help us re-sign up. The dude kind of looked at us strange and said that out of the blue, they are closing the gym on Wednesday. He was like, it was a shock to all of us and he is not even sure if there will be anyone working there tomorrow. Now, this completely ruined my plan. I was going to sign up at the gym today (this gym is one of the cheapest and they don't make you sign a contract) and start going on Monday. I didn't know what to do!

So Sarah and I decided to continue on with the other errands we were running and grabbed some lunch. After that I said that I might as well go back to the Beverly Athletic Club (BAC)and sign up. I explained that I knew they had a crazy contract and an insane sign up fee, but it was the only other gym in Beverly and I can't not sign up for one and let my fat ass get any bigger.

Sooo...we walked in the BAC and I filled out some paper and waited for the manager to come over. Dave, the manager, finally came over and we walked into his office. Now, on that little paper it asked if I had ever been a member of a gym before and I wrote the North Shore Athletic Center (the one that went of business). The dude went on and on, about how he felt sooo bad for the members there and they are taking them under his wing! He said that there would be NO contract NO start up fee and that we don't have to worry. At this point I was feeling a TINY big guilty, but hey, that gym totally rips you off and I was once a member of BAC and the NSAC, soooo...I just went with it. He took is on a tour, gave us a free T-Shirt and had a some guy make us free smoothies....as we walked out with our new little key chain, yes, I felt guilty, but honestly, he never asked if I was a current member of that club and he just started giving us stuff....what was I suppose to do?!

So I am off to the gym and eating healthy again. My goal is to be a BIT healthier for my doctor's apt in March. I will let you know how that goes!!!!
