A quick vent about shoveling yesterday...

Just and FYI, if you live on a major street and there was a large snow storm followed by torrential down pours...if you are shoveling in the pouring rain....you WILL get killed by tidal wave of street water every time a car goes by....just an FYI ....and part of the reason why I was soaked from head to toe yesterday after shoveling.....

The Story of My Cell Phone....and some shoveling in there too

So as many of you know I don't tend to have good luck with cell phones and last weekend and this past week definitely proved that correct. I will start with last weekend when Michelle and I were shoveling the drive way. She had grabbed my cell phone and put it in her pocket and we started to shovel. All of a sudden I heard her say, "uh oh" and I noticed my lovely cell phone in the street in a puddle:( She said that it worked and we continued to shovel. That evening I noticed that my cell phone just wasn't acting right and as the night went on, it started to not work at all. We ended up going to Verizon where the dude there tried to fix it for about 45 minutes and then ordered me a new cell phone. Mind you we never told me them it was in a puddle.

Two days later my new phone came and everything was great. UNTIL, two nights away. I must have left a small glass of diet coke on the table behind my bed and either I or my cat must have knocked it over. Not knowing this, I put my cell phone on this table. Several minutes later I picked it up and it was soaked!! I immediately took the battery out and put it back in...and it didn't work!! I was about to jump out the window.

At this point I would have tried anything. Prayed that it would be OK. Then I remember what my friend Sarah had told me that she read in Women's World. That if you get your cell phone wet, shut it off and put it in a bowl of rice. The rice would some how suck all the moisture out of the phone. At this point is about 1 AM and I dumped all the rest of my whole grain rice into a bowl and put my phone in it. Then I prayed.

I woke up around 5 AM (not sure why) and decided that I needed to see if it worked. I put the battery in and it worked!! It was still acting a little funky, but it turned on and I could make calls and use the Internet..it was a miracle;) By the end of the day yesterday my phone was working as always. So if you get your phone wet....put it in a bowl of rice!!

Another Sunday Night....

So this weekend it didn't snow, very strange considering it seems like it has snowed the last million weekends. But it was good because I got to see 3 condos this weekend and I didn't have to brave any crazy snow storms. Soo...as you can see the condo search continues.

Per the usual, I had phone trouble last week...but I it was still under it's years warranty so I was sent a new one in the mail. yay.

I wish I had more exciting things to write today, but I really don't. I am dreading work tomorrow as usual. haha. I am in pain from working out yesterday. I guess during the week I don't push myself as hard as I should. When I go to the gym with John on Saturday, Sunday I am usually in a ton of pain (which is good I guess.

And Michelle and I are on our second movie of the day...haha...we watched "Sydney White" and now the good ol' Sunday night stand by "Pride and Prejudice".

A Quick Update

So my company gave us a holiday, yippee..no work. So I spent today sleeping in, shoveling (what else is new) and grocery shopping. I love having a day off but they seem to go by so fast and I never seen to get everything done that I want. I am currently playing with my new toy DVR. I am actually not sure why I haven't got this sooner. I mean, seriously...I watched Ellen at 11 this morning, word up!

I other news, I trekked through the snow yet again yesterday to look at another condo. The open house thank god wasn't cancelled. We were the only ones there with the creepy realtor though, so that was awesome. The townhouse was wicked cute and in a great location. It does need a lot of work though, so I am trying to see what the budget will look like for the repairs. The vinyl floor is torn and the paint has seen better days and there are a few other things that were in need. But overall we all liked it. Before I do anything rash, I am going to go see it again, I just need to stop being lazy and contact my real estate agent. Hopefully we can make it there next weekend.

Other than that, I am going to try to continue to work out. I feel wicked guilty because I took the weekend off from working out, so I need to get back on that treadmill today....no way I am hitting the gym today, again, way to lazy..lol.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am going to perhaps get in dry clothes (shoveling wear is still on) and hop onto the couch and chillax!!

Is it summer yet?

Condo search continues.....

As many of you know I have been on the mad search for a condo. Well, I had looked at quite a few and finally found one that I loved and wanted to make an offer on it. I had seen these condos go up for sale last year and I also saw them sell out just as fast. Not that it mattered, as I was not ready mentally or financially to buy one at that time. So anyway, buying a condo by yourself can be very nerve racking....mostly because I have no clue! So I met with my realtor and he spent almost 2 hours explaining the process to me, telling me to not freak out and helping me pick a reasonable starting offer for the condo.

Well..my offer was flat out denied. Yup, the dude that lives there will settle for no less than list price. I know for a fact that he had this condo on the market last August for about $20,000 more and he could not sell it. Now he has it on the market for about $2,000 more than he bought it for. I personally think this dude is on crack considering most real estate is going for $50,000-$100,00 less than it is valued at.

Anyway, I am not giving up...and even though that condo was gorgeous and brand new...I know that I will find something else that fits! I am actually hitting up an open house Sunday...I will fill you in!

First blog of new year

The first blog of the new year should be a resolution blog, no? Well, I have made numerous New Year's Resolutions in the past and I honestly don't remember keeping one, ever! So this year, I am not formally announcing any resolutions, however, I do hope to do a few things this year. I do hope to lose weight in that I am not happy with the weight I am at now. I am not going to put a number on it, but just enough that I don't feel bad about myself any more. I also hope to purchase a house or a condo. I would also like to get engaged, but since that also involves another person in my life, I don't have too much control on that one;)

I am still looking at condos on the N. Shore. Unfortunately anything in my price range is either in the Ghetto or a one room cardboard box. So I had to convince someone to be my roommate. As much as I have said that I would never live with a boyfriend before getting engaged, I am definitely changing my view on this. First off, I am also 30, hello! Second off, I need someone to help me pay for this thing. I am not saying that I want to put him on the mortgage, I am just saying pay some rent to help me pay for the place!!

So far, one condo I liked was way out of my price range and the other one was already under contract. So I am back on the hunt. I am going to try to set up a few other viewings this weekend...so I will keep you in the loop.

As for the weight loss resolution, as I am at the heaviest I have ever been, the motivation isn't that hard. I have been trying hard to work out every day and so far eating pretty healthy too....hopefully it lasts!;)
