West Nile? You must have been to my cook out!

In honor of Independence Day, I thought that it would be kind of cool to have a cook out. I mean, I do have a big backyard that is never used, so the idea seemed perfect. I let all of my friends know of this event a good month in advance to make sure that all could come....well...let met tell you about the cook out...

The first problem came with "the picnic table". Well, I didn't have one. My friend offered me a table that he and his uncle had built and I quickly took him up on this offer. Well...the table never showed on Sunday but finally came on Wednesday...three days before my cook out...a little close..but it did finally made it here.
I stalked up on food and decorations (tiki torches, flags, sparklers) and I set up the day of the cook out. It was suppose to start at 4pm. So... at 4 my sister and I walked outside and waited...and waited...and waited. Now I found this to be funny...we seriously were staring at each other and laughing occasionally to lighten the mood. Michelle looked at me and said, "if no one shows up by 5pm, we are totally packing this shit up and going inside." I agreed.

Finally around 4:45pm...instead of crying..I headed out to the front of the house to flag on coming cars to see if anyone wanted to enjoy a cook out with us. Then I noticed in the distance a familiar car. It was my friend Melissa from work. Now, I was completely embarrassed to bring her to a cook out that has been going on for 45 minutes with no one there...but she was a good sport. The three of us sat there and decided to cook our own burgers at 5:30pm if no one else showed....well..guess what...at 5:30pm we decided to start the bbq. (now mind you, I was promised by two other friends that knew how to use a bbq that they would be there to show me how to use the grill. Now...yes, you got it. They never showed up!!) Soo...we lit the bbq and we made a huge mess. During this disaster Sarah showed up and took over the grilling. We lost one burger deep down into the grill and all the others were a bit..burnt. But ya know..we tried.

Finally a few other people stopped by and it ended up being a good time. I let "the Joels" (the only two dudes that actually showed at the bbq) take over the grilling and it was a good time. Except for one thing. The mosquitoes! Everyone was getting eaten alive by the bugs in the backyard. I thought that I was prepared with four giant citranella candles, but I was wrong. We all had a good time up to that point though;)~Many people were missed that night...some people I am still looking for because they told me they would be there and never showed....hmm....wonder what happened to them?;) JK

Overall a good time. I will attach pics so all to enjoy:)
